Muir Woods

Two weekends ago I took a sister trip (me, my sister, and two friends of mine who are sisters) to Portland. We had a bunch of little reasons to go but mostly just wanted to get out of Seattle to look at some different buildings for a couple of days. It was a short trip, leaving Seattle on Saturday morning and driving back Sunday afternoon, but we packed in a bunch of fun things. We visited the Pittock Mansion… I…
Most of the books I’ve been reading for the past three and a half months are related to the Hollows series by Kim Harrison (see gushing blog post here). I’m not going to write descriptions for each of them because they would be spoilers and I would have to go back to each book to remind myself what was in that particular one. Just go read them already so I’ll have someone to stay up late and talk to about them….
Joe and I met up with my sister and brother-in-law (and their chiweenie, Letty) in July. The guys did the more advanced hike while Katy and I stayed behind and took a few leisurely strolls with the pup. We went to the Paradise Ridge portion of Mt. Rainier. We’ve been there twice now and I am definitely ready to visit a new part of the park next time we go. Or better yet, Mt. St. Helens!
Today we went to the Point Defiance Zoo in Tacoma, aka the second best zoo I have ever been to. I haven’t found anything to beat the Zoo in Asheboro, NC, but this one is pretty close. Without further a due, I give you gentle giants, smiling seals, tuna shark, seahorse necklaces (WHERE DO I APPLY FOR THE SEAHORSE STYLIST POSITION!?), unconvinced meercat, and Mr. Bean lemur. In that order.
A few months ago I started to look for a new type of book to read (to be honest, I need filler between Gail Carriger’s books. She just can’t pop them out fast enough for me) and read a few duds before I found Dead Witch Walking by Kim Harrison. It came out in 2005 and the fact that it still had some of the early 2000’s cheesiness kind of put me off, but I could still see that it…
I finally did it. I made the dreamy Salmon with Leek Fondue and Saffron Mashed Potatoes from Disney World’s Be Our Guest Restaurant that I had a year and a half ago. Woah, that sentence had a lot of capitalized words. Disney’s Salmon with Leek Fondue Me in the Beast’s castle! I don’t remember if it tastes the same (being a year and a half since I’ve had it) but I remember loving it at…

Can there be too many pictures of Paris? No, I don’t think so. I hope you’re enjoying these travel posts as much as I have been! View more on Paris here.
