Brigands & Breadknives (Legends & Lattes #2) by Travis Baldree (Early Review)

I do enjoy this world quite a lot; to me it feels like a violent-yet-cozy intimate look into a quest in World of Warcraft. Though unfortunately I did not find this follow-up book to Legends & Lattes as enjoyable or immersible as the first book in the series. I think my issue, and the cause of the two stars removed, is with Fern, the main character. She accidentally abandons the bookshop she just opened next to Viv’s coffee shop, and instead of returning right away she continues on the adventure. She tries to make excuses to herself but really she comes across as inconsiderate and selfish to me. There is nothing she does that inspires me to find a way to relate to her. However, I do love reading about the lands traveled, people met, things packed along the way, and I really really really love Zill and the way she speaks. The author did the narration and he does a fantastic job.
3/5 Stars
