48 Hours in Los Angeles
I feel like LA was the last major US city to cross off my list. It’s one that I’ve wanted to visit but hadn’t taken the time to make it a priority. It was pretty close to how I expected it to be; the trendier places were mostly nice to visit and everywhere else is pretty junky, except for skid row which we drove through after arriving early for our dinner reservation and wow. I’ve never imagined anything being that bad within the United States.
Let’s keep the rest of this to the highlights! We were in Los Angeles for two and a half days. It was my first time and Joe’s… second, I believe, but he visited as a kid. We wanted to hit some of the highlights but because of the infamous traffic we knew not to try to fit too much in.
A few of my favorite things (okay all of them): Dinner at Off Vine (short ribs with mashed potatoes); the view from Griffith Park Observatory; dinner at Otium (okay this is not just an LA highlight but a life highlight. We split naan with truffle butter, a little gem salad, black truffle gnocchi, and the roasted half chicken. Best meal ever. Best dish ever is the black truffle gnocchi.); everything about Abbot Kinney Blvd, but mostly the facial I got at Caudalie; the La Brea Tar Pits.
