The Once and Future Queen by Paula Lafferty

The Once and Future Queen by Paula Lafferty

I love The Once and Future Queen so much that I’m having a hard time settling on what to say. I’m realizing a newfound obsession with Arthurian-legend books. They are all so different that it’s like reading completely different books but the characters all have the same names. Kinda confusing if you think about them all together, but this one stands out due to it being from Guinevere’s point-of-view.
So I already know that I love medieval settings, especially Camelot, but the magic and romance elements set this book apart from other books set in medieval times. The speculation about why magic is no longer around (to common knowledge) in Vera’s time and why it is declining in Author’s time is woven throughout the story and part of the mystery. The chemistry between Author and Guinevere is electrifying and you can’t help but root for them. And the depth and complexity and appeal of all of the other characters and the time-travel element knock this book out of the park.
I was given a copy of this book via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review, though I did also purchase the audiobook myself.
